Scope and Contents From the Collection:

Lorain Roberts Zacharias collected photographs from several locations with views primarily of mining activities in Dawson and Chisana (also known as Shushana, Shushanna, or Qhisina), family views, and scenics. Photographers represented in the collection include Winter & Pond, Case & Draper, Wolfe, L.H. Smith, and J. Doody. The collection also contains a mining claim location notice, notes with penciled drawing from her husband, and other papers.

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

The Juneau Family photo album, ca. 1920, looks like it belonged to a family that lived in Juneau, Alaska. The photographs depict the Juneau area including Douglas, Thane and the Nugget Creek power station. They also depict Juneau area people and activities. The owner of the album was possibly an electrician or caretaker of the Nugget Creek power station and lived there with his family.

Scope and Contents From the Collection:

This collection contains slides and photographs taken by various photographers before and during the Aleutian campaign of World War II. Included are images of U.S. Naval officers and enlisted men, many who are identified, and locations in the Aleutian Islands, including some aerial views and bomb damage.

The first 37 slides were copied from a set of 59 positive glass lantern slides.

Provenance unknown. Most of the negatives contain images of daily life on or near rivers in Alaska. Some images show sternwheelers on the Yukon River. Pole-boats are also depicted.

The Chititu Creek Mining Camp photograph album contains photographs of a Chititu Creek placer mining camp, the placer workings and the people who lived and worked there. This looks to be a family photograph album as it also has photographs of unknown families, their homes and their horses. There are also photos of 3 ship captains: Captain J.S. Moore, Captain T.D. McFarland and Captain F.M Moore. There is also an impressive picture of a woman shooting a pistol.
